We have been in business for over 37 years and have become one of the finest Authentic Native American Jewelry businesses on the internet! In 1975 my wife Marilyn and I started The Trading Post in Illinois. We started this as a part-time business to help put our two daughters, Denise and Sue, through college. Our children assisted us as we built our authentic Native American Jewelry and Native American Arts and Crafts business. We traveled throughout the United States showing our merchandise at many Rock and Gem shows, Arts and Crafts fairs, and Flea Markets. For many years during that time period we also had a store front. We established our business with the commitment that we would offer ONLY the finest quality merchandise, honestly represented, and at a fair competitive price.
In 1987 our family relocated to Arizona. We continued to set up at Art Shows throughout the United States and also at The Main Event Rock and Gem Show in Quartzite, Arizona. The selection of our fine quality jewelry is what we became known for at all of these events.
In early 2006 Marilyn and I decided to spend more time at home and with our family. We did not want to give up the business because we enjoyed it so much; so with the assistance of our daughter Sue, we developed this website in order to be able to bring our phenomenal selection of authentic merchandise directly into your home. During this transition we renamed our business from The Trading Post to Two Dogs Southwest Gallery, LLC..
Customers ask us how we came up with the name Two Dogs Southwest Gallery. When we decided to put our business on the internet we needed to come up with a unique name. In 1979, I, Tom, was given the Native American Indian name of "Two Dogs", which many people call me by today. Many folks thought that I was given this name because as a family we have always owned two dogs, however the real meaning comes because….."I can bark from both ends". We thought this story was worth sharing with our customers because when our daughter Sue tells it everyone says, "You should put that story on your About Us page"! So now you all know the story behind the Two Dogs name.
Our store front today is our website. Due to health concerns for both my wife and I, we could no longer handle a physical store front. The advantage to not having a physical store front and the overhead that goes with one allows us to keep our prices competitive.
Sue has done a phenomenal job in creating this website along with Jason of Wasabi Web Pros. She manages the business today with our help and guidance. Our commitment to bring you the finest quality merchandise, honestly represented, and at a fair competitive price remains the same.
One of the best parts of this business is meeting with the artists. You will find over 850 of the finest Native American artists represented right here on our site. We have developed great friendships with them over the years. We hand select all of our merchandise so that we are able to bring you unique pieces that are not only beautiful but also have the quality of workmanship that our business is known for. We are always adding new items to the site! We hope you come to appreciate the quality items we offer and have a pleasant shopping experience.
