The Mudhead is carrying the Cripple. It is 4 ¾” tall with the turquoise base. The turquoise base is 4” wide. The detail on this exquisite piece of art is phenomenal. Fine silver is .999. This beautiful Kachina is displayed wonderfully in an enclosed mirror back glass case. The case is 7 ½” L x 6 ½” W and is 8” tall. The Mudhead Kachina sits in fine sand to add more detail to this exquisitely detailed piece. This piece comes out of our own private collection. Carol is a well known Southwestern Artist. Her pieces adorn many collections all over the world. Each design is constructed entirely of wax before it is cast into silver. Carol is best known by collectors for her work with Kachinas. Carol emphasizes that each and every Kachina she makes is a handcrafted original made within the constraints of the Hopi Tradition. The Mudhead Kachina (Keyemsi) appears is almost every Hopi dance as a clown, announcer, or drummer. They play games with the children or the audience between their dances.
