We purchased this piece for our Private Collection in the 1980’s and we now have decided to bring it out of our private collection and offer it to you. It is intricately designed and handmade by Sampson Gray, Navajo. There are a total of 14 Conchos and the scenes on each concho depict the “Navajo Life” on the Reservation. This is a substantial belt. This is the 2nd Story Concho belt that this artist made. It is made of 12ktGF and Sterling Silver. The center concho is 2” tall by 2-5/8” wide and the 13 smaller conchos are 2” tall by 1 5/8” wide. The total length is 40” long and is adjustable. This is a one-of-a-kind piece. The pictures really do not do this piece justice. The silver in this belt alone weighs 266.485 grams. Sampson Gray was born in 1962 in Pine Dale, New Mexico on the Navajo Reservation into the Zuni Clan. He learned silversmithing from his grandmother and has been active for 30 years.
